SEAN KANAN BIOGRAPHY

Sean Kanan joined the cast of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as the devious and manipulative Deacon Sharpe in June, 2009. Deacon came to Genoa City intent on seeking out his former lover Amber Moore (Adrienne Frantz) and destroying the life she had built with her current beau, Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei).

Kanan recently completed a four month run in the hit play, “It’s Just Sex.” His theatrical ventures include starring roles in “True West” and “Irish Coffee.” Kanan will star in the soon-to-be seen web series, “Camera Café” and he will also be seen as a troubled Hollywood manager struggling with a gambling addiction in the feature film “Jack Rio,” which he also produced.

In addition to acting, Kanan frequents the comedy club circuit and makes numerous appearances at the world famous Hollywood Improv and the HaHa where he offers his perspective on his 10 years in daytime television, as well as living in Italy and getting beaten up by Daniel Larusso in “The Karate Kid III.” He also travels with the USO, entertaining in places such as Bosnia and Kosovo.

During his time at Boston University, Kanan satisfied his extracurricular requirements with acting courses and pursued roles on local television productions. After a role on the Boston based “Spencer: For Hire,” he moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting as well as finish his degree in Political Science at UCLA. One of his first major Hollywood roles was as Ralph Macchio’s nemesis in “The Karate Kid III.” He followed this up with roles on the TV series Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Outsiders” and Oliver Stone’s “Wild Palms.” He eventually moved to network television with roles on “General Hospital,” “Sunset Beach” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

Other credits include guest roles on “Freddy,” “Who’s the Boss?,” “VIP,” “The Nanny,” “Walker: Texas Ranger” and “Lois and Clark.” His film credits include the comedy “Chump Change,” the action films “Chaos Factor” and “Extreme Limits,” and the independent film “10 Attitudes.”

After a successful multi-year run on “The Bold and the Beautiful” Kanan starred in the feature, “Carpool Guy.” He landed the lead in the film, “Sons of Italy,” shot on location in Naples, Italy. Afterwards, he produced and starred in the feature film, “HACK.”

Kanan’s producing credits also include the short film, “Oasis Café,” which he also starred in. He also starred in and produced the drama, “March,” followed by “Chasing Holden,” a project which he wrote, starred in and executive produced.

Off the set, Kanan spends his free time studying martial arts, writing scripts, cooking, performing his stand-up comedy and pursuing his studies in Italian language.
